Sabine Meyer - Mozart Arias
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart composed approximately 50 concert arias for the great singers of his day, some for the concert stage, but also to be inserted in operas by other composers. Most of these arias are rarely performed and have been relegated to obscurity, although many of the works are real treasures. Alfred Einstein described them as “miniature concertos in which the voice replaces the solo instrument”. Sabine Meyer has studied these Mozartian gems extensively and presents twelve of these bravura arias on her new CD. Arranged by Stuttgart composer N. A. Tarkmann, they are marvellous little “clarinet concertos” in which Sabine Meyer can display her consummate artistry.
